Primark And Mediamarkt Confirm Lanzarote Stores

The first Primark and MediaMarkt stores on Lanzarote are expected to open towards the end of spring and the beginning of summer, much later than their forecasted opening in 2022, with details being finalized and recruitment underway before staff training, can start after which they will be ready for the public.

In the case of MediaMarkt, the company’s logo is already clearly visible in the Argana commercial centre next to HiperDino in Arrecife, where both firms will share common spaces, including parking.

MediaMarkt will occupy a large part of the upper floor of the new shopping centre, which opened last autumn. Its offerings and size will be very similar to its other stores in Tenerife and Gran Canaria and will be the firm's first store outside a non-capital island, and only the sixth in the Canary Islands.

Recruitment started in February, to find around 40 new members of staff. Their website says that applicants should have "a dynamic personality, experience in the position, ability to work in a team, initiative and excellent customer service skills".

As far as Primark is concerned, a spokesperson said: "we will announce the opening date locally well in advance and we will also update this information on our store information webpage.”

The opening is now scheduled to take place around the end of June or the beginning of July, where they have built a large store in the brand new Open Mall shopping centre in Arrecife, which opened at the beginning of November.
