This Thursday, there will be a SIMULATED emergency at sea by staging a collision between two boats, a fire and a diving accident. The location is expected to be off of Playa La Guirra (the beach by the Atlántico Shopping Centre) at about 11AM. We are also expecting Naval vessels and helicopters on the scene. This is only a drill and could be quite interesting to watch.
This security exercise is part of the annual Marsec-22 maritime security exercises that the Navy is coordinating in thirteen places throughout the national territory, including El Hierro and Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands. The objective of this exercise is to improve the support and coordination work of the Navy's maritime action vessels with other agents in the management of emergencies at sea, in which the Air Force, the Antigua City Council and the Cabildo participate among others.
